Philip Johnson (1906–2005)
Philip Johnson received the first Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1979 and the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal in 1978, marking his influence on modern and postmodern design. His best-known works include the Glass House in Connecticut, the IDS Tower in Minneapolis, and the 550 Madison Avenue building in New York City. Earlier in his career, he founded the Department of Architecture at the Museum of Modern Art, shaping the field through both practice and curation.
