Mark Herndon (1955– )
Mark Herndon joined Alabama in 1979 as the band’s drummer, bringing a rock edge to its sound during its rise to national fame. His percussion anchored some of the band’s most successful years, including chart-topping singles and sold-out tours. Though his later years with the group ended in dispute, Herndon’s contributions remain part of Alabama’s legacy as the top-selling country band in history.
