Dave Brubeck revolutionized jazz with his use of complex rhythms and time signatures, most famously in Take Five(1959). Drafted into the Army during World War II, he avoided combat by forming “The Wolfpack,” one of the first racially integrated military bands. Brubeck’s career spanned decades, earning him the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996.
