Cynthia Gregory (1946– )
Cynthia Gregory was a leading American prima ballerina, celebrated for her performances in Swan Lake, Giselle, and The Sleeping Beauty with the American Ballet Theatre, where she joined in 1965. Recognized early with a Ford Foundation scholarship at age 14, she rose to prominence as one of the most accomplished dancers of her generation. After retiring from the stage, Gregory continued to shape the field through staging classical ballets, teaching master classes, and advocating for dancer health and well-being. She has also pursued a second career as a visual artist, with her pen-and-ink and watercolor works exhibited at Lincoln Center and other venues.
