Jimmy Carter (1924–2024)
Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States (1977–1981), received the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian work after leaving office. Through the Carter Center, he promoted democracy, human rights, and global health, becoming one of the most visible post-presidential figures in modern history. His ties to Habitat for Humanity brought volunteers and building projects to Alabama towns, embedding his legacy in local communities. Carter served as the 76th Governor of Georgia, and Senator from 1963 to 1967. He lived to the age of 101.
