Finding Huntsville: A Kid-Friendly Field Guide to Huntsville’s Historic Architecture

The few blocks surrounding Huntsville’s historic square are a treasure trove of American architectural history, with buildings illustrating the evolution of Alabama architecture from the federal style 1819 Weeden House to the modernistic 1966 Madison County Courthouse, which marks Huntsville’s entry into the Space age. Incorporating text, photographs, sketches, word games and crossword puzzles, our 8-page Finding Huntsville workbook turns a simple walk around the block into an engaging classroom.

This project is funded through a grant from the Alabama Historical Commission and the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville.

HHF will provide FREE Finding Huntsville workbooks to school and community groups and the public. To inquire, please contact Donna@historichuntsville.org
